Freeze Crystallization

Freeze crystallization, also known as freeze concentration, separates water from a solution and concentrates the solute at low temperatures. Unlike evaporation, this method involves cooling the solution to form ice crystals, leaving the solute concentrated in the remaining liquid. The ice and solute crystals are then separated by centrifugation or filtration. This gentle and efficient process significantly enhances product purity and quality, making it suitable for new energy, environmental protection, and biochemical production.

Working Principle

First, the solution is cooled below its freezing point, causing ice crystals to form and grow as the temperature drops. These nearly pure ice crystals are then separated from the concentrated solution using filtration or centrifugation, leaving the concentrated solute behind. If needed, the ice crystals can be melted to recover pure water. This series of steps—cooling, separation, and melting—efficiently separates the solute from the solution, resulting in pure solid crystals and pure water.
