Vacuum & Surface Cooling Crystallization

Cooling crystallization is a method where solute forms crystals by reducing the solution temperature, using the solubility change with temperature to create a supersaturated state.
This can be done using vacuum or surface cooling methods. Various crystallizers, like OSLO and DTB types, are designed to control supersaturation and crystal growth, resulting in large, uniform, and pure crystals.
Vacuum Cooling Crystallization

Vacuum Cooling Crystallization

Vacuum cooling crystallization is an industrial technique that rapidly precipitates solutes from a solution using quick cooling in a vacuum. The process involves heating a supersaturated solution and placing it in a vacuum chamber, where reducing the pressure causes rapid evaporation and cooling. This rapid temperature drop causes the solute to crystallize, followed by solid-liquid separation and crystal collection.

Rapid Cooling

Lowering the pressure allows the solution to evaporate and cool quickly, significantly reducing crystallization time.

Energy Efficiency

Vacuum cooling is more energy-efficient as it uses the latent heat of vaporization, reducing the need for cooling media.

Precise Control

The vacuum level and temperature can be adjusted to precisely control crystal size and shape.

High Purity Crystallization

Rapid cooling prevents impurities from entering the crystals, making it suitable for high-purity products.
Surface Cooling Crystallization

Surface Cooling Crystallization

Surface cooling crystallization promotes large crystal growth by contacting a solution with a cooling surface or using an external cooling source. Supersaturated solution is introduced into a cooler and cycled through a heat exchanger to lower the temperature, achieve supersaturation, and induce crystallization. The resulting mixture is then separated and washed via a centrifuge to produce high-purity crystals. This method allows precise control of the cooling rate to influence crystal size and quality.

Strong Process Control

Precisely control cooling speed and temperature to ensure crystal consistency.

Uniform Crystals

Forced circulation and continuous operation ensure crystal consistency and production continuity.

For Challenging Conditions

Ideal for situations where high boiling points or low-temperature systems cannot use vacuum evaporation.

Energy Efficiency

Utilizes efficient heat exchangers, significantly enhancing energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
