Multiple Effect Evaporation

Multi-Effect Evaporation (MEE) is a process that efficiently concentrates solutions and crystallizes substances by using multiple stages of evaporators to evaporate solvents (usually water) and reusing secondary steam energy. It is particularly suitable for treating high-salinity wastewater, chemical solutions, food and beverage concentration, pharmaceutical preparation and environmental applications. This reliable and traditional process can be combined with various vapor-liquid separators and crystallizers to meet different material treatment requirements.

Working Principle

The working principle of multi-effect evaporation involves using secondary steam sequentially to achieve energy savings. Initially, fresh steam heats the first effect, causing the liquid to evaporate. The secondary steam generated is not directly condensed but is instead used to heat the subsequent effect to continue the evaporation process. This process is repeated, with the secondary steam from each effect used to heat the next one. By recycling this heat, multi-effect evaporators significantly reduce energy consumption and increase evaporation efficiency.
